Hi Ted,  I am not sure if jruby-complete being in target/cached_classpath.txt cause the error.

By the way, I could not find what it means for a Maven project if a dependency is in target/cached_classpath.txt,
but I believe it is for Maven only (you could also see in that txt, all dependency jars are
in the local m2 repository, which means for me that, it is for dev environment only), while
the assembly is fully controlled by assembly plug-in and the configs under hbase-assembly/src/main/assembly
