I was trying to cross-jdk build the shaded client (need the -Prelease) for a customer. 
Cross-jdk compilation is a tricky thing. I am rethinking if the risk-reward worth it and overall
worth it or not to make this change. 

The the animal-sniffer plugin is a good thing to have.  I can open the JIRA nevertheless.
