[~kdwinkler] The ASF JIRA instance suffered some spam attacks that required tightening of
permissions. I've added you to the contributor role on the project and assigned this issue

Based on the use of Bytes.toStringBinary() within RemoteHTable.buildRowSpec(), I believe the
