Yep! Did it in HBASE-15835. As you can see over there, I ran into one wrinkle in my first
patch submission, but everything is fine with that patch now, apparently ready for pushing
through into the master branch...

Off the top of my head, we should have templates for
>  - hbase client application with all dependencies
