Looks to me that indexes are used to chose the first block to read but they could also be
used to judge the last block to read. Let's say you have 80 blocks in the table and the row
you're looking for is in blocks 11-17 based on index data.
Right now the "upper" layer tell the scanner to start at block 11 and go until it finds a
different row. Maybe the "upper" layer can tell the scanner to start at block 11 and go at
maximum up to block 17. The length could be anything that translates to block 17. Either block
offset based on start block, absolute block value or calculated number of KVs based on average
key/value length. As analogy : it's like strcmp vs strncmp.
