[~stack] What versions was your test run against? I am trying to reproduce =
against cdh 5.3.1 and seeing the same behavior as 5.4.7. Not sure if the or=
iginal issue was missing part of the underlying problem, or if I'm not repr=
oducing appropriately.

I had to rename your MultiVersionConcurrencyControl import and function cal=
ls to MultiVersionConsistencyControl. I am seeing 10 test threads block whi=
le the "slowpoke" thread is churning, which I'm guessing is case we are loo=
king for.

we can read the last Increment value that we need to update.
