Nick Dimiduk commented on HBASE-14381:

Structurally the change is simple, at the connection level anyway. Any change to our public
API needs some thought and discussion. Ideally we have some real-world use cases that make
for nice examples. The test in HBASE-10791 is one example. [~apurtell]'s [comment|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-12911?focusedCommentId=14289836&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-14289836]

> Once we have mechanisms for collecting and reporting client-side metrics (HBASE-12911),
it would be useful to make these metrics available to client applications. That way application
developers can make use of them in their own applications and reporting infrastructures. For
instance, HBASE-10791 could be implemented to consume these metrics instead of doing the monitoring
