Subject [jira] [Commented] (HBASE-12857) Make hbase-it test running more consistent
Date Wed, 14 Jan 2015 19:49:35 GMT

Enis Soztutar commented on HBASE-12857:

IntegrationTestsDriver is good for running a set of tests, or all tests with the default configuration.
However, what we have found out here is that we need to custom configure some of the tests
(like before this test, enable this configuration or run this test with these parameters once,
and run it again with these parameters). IntegrationTestsDriver does not allow this easily.

Thus I would prefer the tests to be runnable on their own with main methods. But still an
easier way to run the tests with default params (through mvn or ITD) is still useful.

> Running tests from hbase-it can be painful because some of them have a main method and
can be run by invoking them with bin/hbase, while others have to be called via something like
IntegrationTestsDriver. Let's decide how we want things to work and then I'll implement it.
I imagine the easiest way to go is to just to add a main method to any class that doesn't
have one. Any opinion one way or the other [~enis], [~ndimiduk], [~eclark], or [~stack]?
