Subject [jira] [Commented] (HBASE-12215) PrefixFilter should use SEEK_NEXT_USING_HINT
Date Fri, 10 Oct 2014 00:45:34 GMT

Lars Hofhansl commented on HBASE-12215:

FuzzyRowFilter does skip scans (i.e. SEEK_NEXT_USING_HINT), because it scans long discontinuous
sets of rows.
You mean when you combine multiple PrefixFilter in a FilterList? It doesn't do that, it can't
know what the individual Filters are doing internally.

What are you trying to do? Search for multiple prefixes? We can probably add a new filter
to HBase for that.
Can you use the FuzzyRowFilter?

> PrefixFilter is really just a specialized case of FuzzyFilter. It could be implemented
on top of it, but at the very least it should take advantage of SEEK_NEXT_USING_HINT for performance
