Misty Stanley-Jones commented on HBASE-11533:
---------------------------------------------

Yeah that's a good point. There are several lightweight text-based markup languages like markdown,
restructured text, asciidoc. Asciidoctor is an extension of Asciidoc which is essentially
an extension of Markdown. I'm not sure which one will end up on top.

I will say that Docbook is somewhat falling out of favor, especially Docbook 4.x (we are using
4.5). Do you have any preference about documentation languages, [~jon@cloudera.com]?

Also I know that the Asciidoctor folks are working on integrating it with Apache's website
infrastructure. It is already used by Github.

> Convert or create a subset of documentation in Asciidoc and integrate Asciidoctor into
the Maven build. http://asciidoctor.org/
> Get some folks to play around with it afterward.
