Subject [jira] [Commented] (HBASE-10773) Make use of ByteRanges in HFileBlock instead of ByteBuffers
Date Mon, 28 Jul 2014 20:33:41 GMT

stack commented on HBASE-10773:

If we go BR throughout the read path, what happens when we want to move read blocks from dfsclient
to blockcache without bringing the blocks onheap: http://grepcode.com/file/repo1.maven.org/maven2/org.apache.hadoop/hadoop-common/2.4.0/org/apache/hadoop/fs/HasEnhancedByteBufferAccess.java#HasEnhancedByteBufferAccess
Would that be internal to the blockcache implementation? It could be all BB but its APIs
would be BR based?

> Replacing BBs with Byte Ranges in block cache as part of HBASE-10772, would help in
replacing BBs with BRs in HFileBlock also.
