IMO deciding such a conf is hard. Tags might be internally used for different use cases later.
(Already there are some plans in other jiras) For a user to know all these and deciding such
a conf will be hard right?  That is why I am thinking that tag by tag compression will be
safe. What do you say?

Will correct the javadoc. I missed that in this patch. Thanks for the finding.

That is the recommendation from javadoc for using array() 
Invoke the hasArray method before invoking this
method in order to ensure that this buffer has an accessible backing
