Elliott Clark commented on HBASE-8015:
--------------------------------------

bq.Should we support cross-namespace constructs ? If so, namespace would be exposed to user.
>From my point of view the most important usability concern should be the java api, with
thrift second. My proposal would allow cross namespace very easily by just creating two different
HTable's in different namespaces.

The shell is nice but it's just a convenience utility. We shouldn't make the most used case
harder or more confusing chasing some dream of having a sql shell. In my opinion since HBase
is not Oracle's 11g, it shouldn't value being like their sql.

bq.We need to expose it mainly for backwards compatibility.
Can you talk a little about this. I thought the examples I posted showed we could be backwards
compatibile by adding an optional paramter (htable would be treated in a very similar manner).
