Subject [jira] [Created] (HBASE-8167) make RPC select ops multi-threaded
Date Thu, 21 Mar 2013 07:31:15 GMT
Liang Xie created HBASE-8167:
--------------------------------

Summary: make RPC select ops multi-threaded
                 Key: HBASE-8167
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-8167
             Project: HBase
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: IPC/RPC
    Affects Versions: 0.98.0
            Reporter: Liang Xie
            Assignee: Liang Xie

Current RPC framework is single listener thread with multiple Reader thread, this is pretty
similar with thrift's THsHaServer design. And from thrift0.8, TThreadedSelectorServer was
introduced to meet network-io-bound scenario better. There's a benchmark report on it: https://github.com/m1ch1/mapkeeper/wiki/Thrift-Java-Servers-Compared
I think we could make HBaseServer's listener multi-thread as well. Just a raw thought now,
no patch available yet.
