I think there is no hard rule around this, neither should there be (IMHO). For simple issues
(like this one) as long as we keep an issue open about the forward port that is OK (again
IMHO).
Agree 100% that bigger changes must go into trunk first.

Regarding this particular issue: I'm generating the release notes from jira now. So as long
as this issue is not marked as fixed I can't do that.
