[~devaraj] Looking at the patch, there is a bunch of overlap with HBASE-7533 where we are
trying to spec out what goes on wire before coding it up.  What you reckon?  If we remove
the 7533 stuff from this patch, what is left over?  What buffer copies are we saving in particular?
