Subject [jira] [Commented] (HBASE-6398) Print a warning if there is no local datanode
Date Thu, 18 Oct 2012 17:40:06 GMT

Sameer Vaishampayan commented on HBASE-6398:

Don't know why St.Ack's comments are not here. I remember his response was that the patch
as is will get report info for all data nodes every time the method is called, therefore a
performance issue. This I am trying to rectify by adding a new API which will return me a
data node info for a particular data node given a hostname. This change is in Hadoop hdfs
and therefore has a longer dependency.

The review for Hadoop changes is out :

> When starting up a RS HBase should print out a warning if there is no datanode locally.
Lots of optimizations are only available if the data is machine local.
