We also found the same problem. Only 2 minor comments:
1.

SPLIITING should be SPLITTING.
2. HBaseAdmin in testShouldClearRITWhenNodeFoundInSplittingState should be closed in finally
block.

Otherwise, I'm +1 on this patch.
