Nicolas Spiegelberg commented on HBASE-4244:
--------------------------------------------

@Todd: Maybe this is a good place to bring up discussion about how we want to organize our
administration tools. It's kind of odd that 'bin/hbase' is basically useless other than the
'shell' and 'version' utilities right now. Process management is not practically the point
of this script. You actually don't want users to directly issue:

{code}
bin/hbase regionserver start
{code}

they should instead issue:

{code}
bin/hbase-daemon.sh start regionserver
{code}

which is completely non-intuitive.

> Talking with Doug Meil yesterday, I found out he didn't know we had an HLog or HFile
analyzer. We should add these quick links to the bin/hbase help prompt. Additionally, we
should reword the help so it's very clear what tools DBAs have at their disposal vs package/process
management.
