Subject [jira] Commented: (HBASE-2550) Remove hbase-X.X.X-test.jar from binary tgz bundle; its of no use
Date Sat, 15 May 2010 19:13:41 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-2550?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12867901#action_12867901

stack commented on HBASE-2550:

It is. Its good for a quick verification that things are working basically.

But your point thats its not up to the job of verifying hbase is running correctly -- its
too narrowly focused -- is well taken. Lets figure what this tool is. It needs to do multiple
column families, multiple columns and a concurrent variety of read/write loadings with need
for verification out on the other side. I think the YCSB is good candidate because you can
just drop in plugins to do the variety but you, Karthik and Todd each have been working on
possible replacements.

> -----------------------------------------------------------------
> Key: HBASE-2550
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-2550
> Project: Hadoop HBase
> Issue Type: Task
> Reporter: stack
> The only thing we ever use from hbase-X.X.X-test.jar is the PerformanceEvaluation scripts.
If these were moved into the core jar, hbase-X.X.X-test.jar would have no function; theres
no point shpping it as part of the bin bundle.
