Subject [jira] [Created] (HBASE-7693) Hostname returned by TableInputFormatBase.reverseDNS contains trailing period
Date Mon, 28 Jan 2013 09:25:13 GMT
Robert Dyer created HBASE-7693:
----------------------------------

Summary: Hostname returned by TableInputFormatBase.reverseDNS contains trailing
period
                 Key: HBASE-7693
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-7693
             Project: HBase
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: mapreduce
    Affects Versions: 0.94.3
            Reporter: Robert Dyer
            Priority: Trivial

TableInputFormatBase.reverseDNS makes a call to org.apache.hadoop.net.DNS.reverseDns which
(at least in Hadoop 1.0.4) returns a PTR record. PTR records contain a trailing period, which
then shows up in the input split location causing the JobTracker to incorrectly match map
jobs to data-local map slots.
