Thank you for the pointer to the rich lode on lock-free cache.

What you think?  Thread scheduler is not fair in java.  Synchronizations could make for thread
pile-ups with some left out in the cold never getting a look-in (the 'bottlenecks', I presume,
referenced in the issue).  Could push out our 99.5th percentile.
