Oh - for windows, it sets PATH, for linux it sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH.   
So I was just describing things in general.

I think this is a known problem that someone is looking into.

Ok - so it seems that for you, the problem has gone away.  We still  
seem to have it on Gentoo for Armand...
