If the URL has space or special character in it, HttpURLConnectionImpl throws IllegalArgumentException saying that "Argument must not be null"

Consider the below test:
	public void test() {
		try {
			URL url = new URL("http://www.apache.org/page with space");
			HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
			conn.connect();
		} catch (MalformedURLException e) {
			// TODO Auto-generated catch block
			e.printStackTrace();
		} catch (IOException e) {
			// TODO Auto-generated catch block
			e.printStackTrace();
		}
	}
