Ivan Popov commented on HARMONY-3508:

The problem is in race condition in the test. The test holds events and starts separate thread
that waits for events during default timeout. The tests waits for this thread during the same
timeout and then releases events and receives expected event again. usually separate thread
finishes reading events before test releases events and the test is able to read expected
event. However, sometimes thread works does not finish reading events before test releases
them. Thread eats that event and the test fails because it does not receive expected event.

> The following JDWP test
> org.apache.harmony.jpda.tests.jdwp.VirtualMachine.HoldEventsTest
> very rarely fails during whole test run mostly on Windows/ia32 on a slow single-cpu machine.
> Typical test output:
> <...>
> send HoldEvents
> allow to start thread
> [SYNC] Message sent: continue
> STDOUT> [SYNC] Received message: continue
> STDOUT> starting thread
> no events were received
> send ReleaseEvents

> It seems that THREAD_START event generated while events were held does not reach debugger
after events are released.
> I cannot reproduce this failure in standalone mode. I'm going to include this test into
exclude list for intermittent failures.
