Right now one can run kernel tests or smoke tests as stand along one as:

<trunk>/working_vm/build $ ./build.bat \
   -Dtest.mode=opt \
   kernel.test
# See <trunk>/working_vm/build/make/test.properties for list of modes, currently they are 
#  jit jet opt srv int

This would be really helpful to get the same opportunity for cunit tests.

Also the cunit tests running should clearly report that this testing is Execution Enginer independent ("test.mode" property is ignored).
