Subject [jira] Updated: (HARMONY-1847) [drlvm] -verbose option does nothing
Date Sun, 08 Apr 2007 10:41:32 GMT

Santiago Gala updated HARMONY-1847:

    Attachment: verbose-class.diff

This patch makes -verbose or -verbose:class actually print something similar to other VMs.

It works well for jar-loaded classes, printing from path/to/jarfile, but for non bootclassloaders,
it prints " by classloaderclass", because I was not able to actually find how other classes
delegate loading in a reasonable way.

It would be far more useful if it printed the origin jar when the classloader inherits from
the system classloaders, but al least now .-verbose prints something.

> java -verbose does not print any information
> To debug an application it is very helpfull to know which classes and in which order
they are loaded.
> Something like what RI gives would be enough.

> Xtrace:classloader contains the information but it is too verbose.
