Subject [jira] Updated: (HARMONY-3044) [drlvm][thread manager] smoke test gc.LOS hangs from time to time on SUSE9 Linux x86 and x86_64

Elena Semukhina updated HARMONY-3044:

    Attachment: H-3044_gc_MultiThreads_hang.txt

I tried the patch and was happy to see that both gc.LOS and gc.MultiThreads passed hundreds
of times on linux x86 and x86_64 in default mode.

Then I tried to run them in OPT and didn't see any problems on x86 for now (tests still run).

On x86_64 gc.LOS is now running its 120th iteration while gc.MultiThreads hung after it finished
its 27th:
92% (387894448/419430400),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Possibly it is not OPT specific but seems to be x86_64 specific. I attached the stack traces;
please look at them.

> I saw the hangs on 2xXeon machines in JIT mode.
> To reproduce the hang please run the test iteratively as follows:
> while true; do $DRLVM -cp <classpath> gc.LOS; echo $i; i=$[i+1]; done &
> It usually needs no more than 100 iterations to hang.
