Subject [jira] Commented: (HARMONY-2652) [drlvm][gc_gen] WB helper inlining for GC_GEN

Mikhail Fursov commented on HARMONY-2652:

>BTW, can the server_gen_2.emconf file merge with the server.emconf file, or we can creat
a new emconf in DRLVM.
I think we should discuss it in email threads.
Today we have only official modes in emconf: client(default) / server. The opt/jet/server_static
modes are single-JIT modes that are used to test only 1 JIT.
Now you want to have a new mode for gc_gen. This is OK but I see 2 problems here:
1) IMO we should not clone all of JIT modes to test 1 GC. One (server_gc_gen) is enough.
2) The 1 cmd line option: -Xem:server_gc_gen is not enough - you have to teach VM to use gc_gen
as collector. So this mode will work only if 2 options are specified. This is Ok for our internal
development but looks errorprone. This could be a subject for another discussion: could we
use em.conf to specify gc module too?
