Subject [jira] Commented: (HARMONY-2145) [drlvm][jvmti] Compiled Method Load event - inlined method support
Date Fri, 24 Nov 2006 06:24:07 GMT
    [ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-2145?page=comments#action_12452371 ]

George Timoshenko commented on HARMONY-2145:
--------------------------------------------

The last patch contains a weak solution of outer_method:

if there is:

methodA
  .
  .
  -> call methodB
            .
            .
            -> call methodC

and both methodB and methodC are inlined into methodA:

methodA
  .
  .
  // methodB begin
  .
  .
  // methofdC begin
  .
  .
  .
  // methodC end
  .
  .
  // methodB end
  .
  .
// methodA end

outer_method(methodC) == methodA for this case.

> Current VM doesn't report Compiled Method Load event for methods that are inlined by
JIT.
> Though spec requires it to be sent for every compiled method:
> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/jvmti/jvmti.html#CompiledMethodLoad
> We need to add some function to interface between VM and JIT in order to let VM know
about inlined methods.
