Subject [jira] Commented: (HARMONY-1647) [classlib][awt][gifdecoder] Memory corruption while decoding non-interlaced GIF
Date Fri, 29 Sep 2006 12:40:53 GMT
    [ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-1647?page=comments#action_12438706 ]

Oleg Khaschansky commented on HARMONY-1647:
-------------------------------------------

The corruption is caused by the GIF decoder when it tries to write extra byte in the output
after EOI mark is passed. The reason is that it still has some unprocessed bits left in the
byte that contained EOI code if code size is less than 8 bits. This may happen if the image
is very small.

I am going to provide a patch for this issue.

> Compile the following test:
> import javax.swing.ImageIcon;
> public class GIFDecoderTest {
>
>     public static void main(String[] args) {
>         System.out.println(new ImageIcon("gray.gif").getIconHeight());
>     }
> }
> Put attached image "gray.gif" into GIFDecoderTest working directory. Run the test
> on DRLVM with gc pinning disabled on Windows. Debug error messagebox appears.
> [To disable gc pinning apply
> attached disable_pinning.diff to drlvm sources and build debug drlvm].
