Subject [jira] Commented: (ZOOKEEPER-107) Allow dynamic changes to server cluster membership
Date Mon, 13 Jul 2009 17:33:14 GMT

Henry Robinson commented on ZOOKEEPER-107:

Your solution is essentially what will happen. F and G will contact E while they are trying
to elect a leader. During this process they can all exchange the most recent view that they
saw so that E realises the current view. If EFG form a quorum in any view then we can see
that either a) it is the latest view or b) at least one of them will know about a later view.
Therefore there's also no concern about resurrecting old views.

> Currently cluster membership is statically defined, adding/removing hosts to/from the
server cluster dynamically needs to be supported.
