Subject [jira] [Commented] (YARN-8097) Add support for Docker env-file switch
Date Wed, 18 Apr 2018 18:16:00 GMT

Eric Yang commented on YARN-8097:
---------------------------------

Patch 001 supports env-file flag by passing yarnfile with additional environment flag like
this:

{code}
...
"configuration": {
        "env": {
          "YARN_CONTAINER_RUNTIME_DOCKER_ENV_FILE":"test.env"
        }
}
...
{code}

This can be used in combination with YARN-8079 to download environment variable file from
HDFS to localized directory, then send to docker run command with user defined filename.

> There are two different ways to pass user environment variables to docker. There is
-e flag and --env-file which reference to a file that contains environment variables key/value
pair. It would be nice to have a way to express env-file from HDFS, and localize the .env
file in container localized directory and pass --env-file flag to docker run command. This
approach would prevent ENV based password to show up in log file.
