Subject [jira] [Commented] (YARN-6623) Add support to turn off launching privileged containers in the container-executor
Date Thu, 21 Sep 2017 20:32:01 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-6623?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16175416#comment-16175416

Eric Badger commented on YARN-6623:

Given that docker is alpha in 2.8.2, I agree with [~vinodkv] that we should not backport this
to 2.8.2, as it makes significant changes to the container-executor. Nobody should even attempt
seriously running docker on 2.8.2 without backporting most, if not everything that's in 2.9
and doing a large security review over their configurations and setup. So, in my mind, some
docker code may be "in" 2.8.2, but it really isn't supported at all until 2.9+. The only reason
I can think of to put this in 2.8.2 would be to get the changes to container-executor, but
it's not obvious to me why we would need those.

> Currently, launching privileged containers is controlled by the NM. We should add a flag
to the container-executor.cfg allowing admins to disable launching privileged containers at
the container-executor level.
