bq.  This race is about stopping creation of the timer task or trying to renew the token if
cancel is already invoked on it.
I don't see where the race is based on latest code. 
"removeApplicationFromRenewal" method is where the cancel happens. Inside the method, it always
call "dttr.cancelTimer();" first before cancelling the actual token.  could you explain a
bit more where the race is?
