I think I've already expressed my unhappiness about breaking tagged-as-stable stable classes/APIs
and how "it wasn't meant to be subclassed for mock testing" isn't the kind of response I'd
like to have seen.

+1 for the patch, also +1 for making this policy "if we add new methods to a public class,
we'll make them non-abstract but fail as unsupported for the benefit of those subclasses (especially
mock test ones) which may exist.
