Subject Loading ShutDownHookManager fails in stopping application
Date Mon, 23 May 2016 13:12:46 GMT
When accessing Hadoop as a client, the client library registers a
shutdown hook. Many modular application environments are based on the
concept of releasing class loaders and loading new module versions while
keeping the VM up.

In particular in those environments, like any modern web container,
after stop of an application it may not be allowed to make use of an old
class loader.

As in
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19388201/could-not-load-org-apache-hadoop-util-shutdownhookmanager-when-shutdown-tomcat-s/20078763#20078763

I have the problem that the Hadoop client libraries (as of Hadoop 2.6.0)
try to invoke a shutdown hook.

Is there a way to disable the shutdown hook when accessing hadoop as a
client?

Or, is there a way to invoke the shutdown from the application and
unregister the shutdown hook?

Thanks,
Henning
