This isn't true anymore. We are continuing to keep the SNN and have
undeprecated it. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-2397.
We are perhaps deprecating the CheckpointNode though:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-4114.
