@acmurthy: you bet! I should have time this week to read this over.

also, I'm happy to port pieces of my ginormous patch over to this if you'd like -- while the
majority of the patch I posted is test cases (which may or may not match the semantics of
your DRF implementation due to decisions about edge cases), other pieces such as the FIFO
support, the web GUI, and the metrics code might save you some time.
