Robert Kanter commented on MAPREDUCE-4068:

I've been looking around a lot lately at the unjaring and the "lib-in-a-jar" code for MAPREDUCE-4408,
and this would explain some of the difficulty I've been having :)

I haven't seen any tests that check this feature either.

> Project: Hadoop Map/Reduce
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: mrv2

> Fix For: 0.23.2
> Prior to hadoop 0.23, users could add third party jars to the lib subdirectory of the
submitted job jar and they become available in the task's classpath. I see this functionality
was in TaskRunner.java, but I can't see similar functionality in hadoop 0.23 (neither in MapReduceChildJVM.java
nor other places).
