Subject [jira] Commented: (MAPREDUCE-1413) Improve logging of progress/errors in the job and task trackers

Steve Loughran commented on MAPREDUCE-1413:

-my loggers are usually set up to log exceptions, some people's don't. I have a strategic
plan to write a better junit test reporter one day that would even log the stack in a structured
form, but that's so far down my todo list I wouldn't wait for it.

-The toString() operation gets logged in a couple of places (initalize, offerService), but
it's also handy for anyone stepping through code in IDEs: you can see what's going on. I think
own my code does print it out in a couple of places, though that's just a handy extra to let
me compare what I think I'm passing down to what the class thinks it's picked up. Logging
failures is more important.
