Subject [jira] Commented: (MAPREDUCE-1736) S3 File Permissions
Date Fri, 06 Aug 2010 21:34:17 GMT

Tom White commented on MAPREDUCE-1736:
--------------------------------------

The problem is that file metadata for the block-based S3 filesystem (org.apache.hadoop.fs.s3.S3FileSystem)
does not store the file owner. This would need adding to INode to fix this issue.

> Till lately I've been using 0.20.2 and everything was ok. Now I'm using the latest trunc
0.22.0-SNAPSHOT and getting the following thrown:
> Exception in thread "main" java.io.IOException: The ownership/permissions on the staging
directory s3://my-s3-bucket/mnt/hadoop.tmp.dir/mapred/staging/root/.staging is not as expected.
It is owned by and permissions are rwxrwxrwx. The directory must be owned by the submitter
root or by root and permissions must be rwx------
