Subject [jira] Commented: (HIVE-972) support views
Date Thu, 14 Jan 2010 02:44:54 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-972?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12800089#action_12800089

Zheng Shao commented on HIVE-972:

bq. Regarding referencing a temporary function from a view: I guess we could just allow it,
and leave it up to the user to reregister the function in a new Hive instance before referencing
the view. If they forget, they'll get an exception like the one above, at which point they
can register the function and try again. Kind of clunky, but the ability to make use of UDF's
in views may be valuable.

I am OK with that. We can reiterate that later without paying any development overhead.
