Ayush Saxena commented on HDFS-14174:
-------------------------------------

Guess Wei-Chiu had some concerns regarding incompatibility,
May be you guys can share the logics or use-case behind the change.
Anyway I know about incompatibilities but adding a configuration for a audit log seems little
overkill to me?

> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: namenode
> Affects Versions: 2.6.0
> Reporter: Sailesh Patel
> Assignee: hemanthboyina
> Priority: Minor
>
> When a hdfs dfs -chown  command is executed, the audit log  does not capture the
existing owner and the new owner.
> Need to capture the old and new owner to allow auditing to be effective
