I'm working on putting the explorer.html/explorer.js from the Namenode in front of HttpFS.
In general works fine but it has a couple issues:
# No redirect is not supported.
# It doesn't assume that the input data is octet stream.
# It doesn't support GET_BLOCK_LOCATIONS.

This JIRA tackles #1.
