Thanks for checking out.

I am able to compile by changing hadoop.version. Not sure maven version has any role here.
My maven version is 3.5.0.

When I check maven javadoc plugin 3.0.1 documentation.

Set an additional option(s) on the command line. This value should include quotes as necessary
for parameters that include spaces. Useful for a custom doclet. * *Type*: {{java.lang.String[]}}
 * *Since*: {{3.0.0}}
 * *Required*: {{No}}
