Subject [jira] [Updated] (HDFS-11493) Ozone: SCM: Add the ability to handle container reports
Date Wed, 19 Apr 2017 22:10:42 GMT

Anu Engineer updated HDFS-11493:
    Attachment: HDFS-11493-HDFS-7240.001.patch

[~szetszwo], [~xyao], [~cheersyang], [~yuanbo], [~linyiqun], [~vagarychen], [~msingh] This
is the document that discusses how SCM will use pools for replication. The first part of the
patch will be uploaded soon. I am breaking up the patches into multiple patches to make it
easy to code review.

I still have to create the part that actually issues commands for replication, this patch
simple finds containers that are either over replicated or under replicated. But the attached
document gives an end-to-end view of what we want to achieve. Please do leave me comments
on the doc. I would be extremely thankful if you can take some time to code review this patch,
since this is a critical part of SCM.

> Ozone: SCM: Add the ability to handle container reports
> ---------------------------------------------------------
> Key: HDFS-11493
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-11493
> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Sub-task
> Components: ozone
> Affects Versions: HDFS-7240
> Reporter: Anu Engineer
> Assignee: Anu Engineer
> Attachments: container-replication-storage.pdf, HDFS-11493-HDFS-7240.001.patch
> Once a datanode sends the container report it is SCM's responsibility to determine if
the replication levels are acceptable. If it is not, SCM should initiate a replication request
to another datanode. This JIRA tracks how SCM handles a container report.
