Subject [jira] [Created] (HDFS-11523) after cluster failover, journalnode fails to come up when space is freed, preventing namenode from coming up at proper state
Date Thu, 09 Mar 2017 22:17:38 GMT
Sunil Iyer created HDFS-11523:
---------------------------------

Summary: after cluster failover, journalnode fails to come up when space is freed,
preventing namenode from coming up at proper state
                 Key: HDFS-11523
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-11523
             Project: Hadoop HDFS
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 2.7.2
         Environment: Ubuntu 12.04
            Reporter: Sunil Iyer

after failover of a three node distributed cluster, one node with both namenode and journalnode
services was completely down. A second journalnode was in wedged state due to insufficient
space, so namenode service could not resume. Once space was cleared however, journalnode did
not resume on its own, preventing a majority of journalnodes for namenode reads.
