Hi [~ajisakaa], can we just return timedOutItems.size() by querying it within the timedOutItems
object lock instead of adding a new Atomic int?

I checked every place that lock is taken and it is fairly lightweight so so I see no problem
acquiring it when querying metrics. Thanks.
