Chris Nauroth commented on HDFS-7984:

Hi Allen. It's unclear to me what this issue is requesting. Can you please elaborate? It
sounds like you want a customizable hook into the WebHDFS client's logic for delegation token
handling. You mentioned initialization, but do you also need a hook into renewal and cancellation

I'm not sure what kind of use case would motivate this customization. Do you have some scenario
where your process already has a delegation token, and you'd prefer not to get a new token
for WebHDFS? If so, then any further details about this scenario would be helpful.

> webhdfs:// needs to support provided delegation tokens
> ------------------------------------------------------
> Key: HDFS-7984
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-7984
> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: webhdfs
> Affects Versions: 3.0.0
> Reporter: Allen Wittenauer
> Priority: Blocker
> When using the webhdfs:// filesystem (especially from distcp), we need the ability to
inject a delegation token rather than webhdfs initialize its own. This would allow for cross-authentication-zone
file system accesses.
